Ultimately, planning a vacation is exciting, but there are many things to consider if you want to get the most out of your careful preparation and travels. Adding too much to your itinerary or relying heavily on reviews and feedback from others can ruin all of your hard work. Many avid travelers choose to hire a travel agent before they even begin planning their next trip. From booking flights to arranging your hotel, itinerary, and more, an experienced travel agent will have an enormous impact on how well your vacation pans out; you will certainly notice a difference! To lend some additional advice, here are 5 tips on getting the most out of your time away:

  1. When Planning, Time is on Your Side. When Departure Day finally arrives, all of your vacation anticipation and planning will pay off, big time! Take your time planning and allow yourself to get hyped up about your future getaway. Daydream about all the activities and sites you’ll experience. Continue your research and refine your itinerary, but don’t overfill it or you may overwhelm yourself and miss out on some amazing spontaneous moments.

  2. Hire a Guide. Tour guides can be hired privately or you can join group tours. Either way, a guide is one of your best resources for learning about the places you visit and truly indulging in all that surrounds you. Your tour guide is a walking encyclopedia, full of information on your destination’s history, culture, attractions, and more. Make the most of your investment by paying close attention and asking questions.

  3. Hit Up the Lesser Known Spots. Sometimes it’s best to take the path less traveled and to by visiting the places that don’t usually draw large crowds. Consider taking your vacation in the off-season, instead of during busy (and often more expensive) tourism months. By avoiding the crowd, you’re likely to get much more out of your travel experience.

  4. Prepare with a Travel Agent. Your travel agent will help you prepare to the greatest extent possible, but how does their assistance improve your vacation? An agent’s professional input and guidance assures your preparations are focused and effective, ultimately saving you from any travel snags or missed opportunities. An experienced travel agent is your best friend when planning everything from basic travel arrangements, to developing a smart and fun itinerary, to packing the proper, barest essentials.

  5. Take It All In. Before you start snapping photo after photo, make sure you take a few moments to absorb your surroundings. Everyone likes to commemorate their vacation through photographs, but we tend to not fully appreciate what we’re admiring through the lens of a camera. Pause before you snap! Soak it in! Take time to appreciate where you are and all of the hard work you’ve put into your journey. Who deserves this vacation? You do!
