FAQ + POLICIES
  • Why should I book with a travel advisor when I can book online?
Why, not? Once you book online, that’s it. Now you get to figure out the details, make sure everything is in order and place, and do all the research by yourself. When you book with a travel advisor, your relationship and service have just begun. When you book online, the rest is up to YOU! When you book with J. Sutton Travel, the rest is up to us.
  • Do I really need travel insurance?
Ummm, YES! I highly encourage and suggest you purchase Travel Protection. The cost of Travel Protection will be in your itinerary quote, and payment will need to be made at the time of deposit to ensure your investment is covered. If you do not purchase Travel Protection, and something were to go wrong before, during, or after travel, my ability to help you will be minimal. If you decline Travel Protection, you will be asked to sign a document stating that you refused the offered insurance.
  • What are the benefits of booking with a full-service travel advisor?
TIME: Saves you hours and years of research that is invaluable when planning that perfect vacation of a lifetime. SAFETY and TRUST: Provides a trusted advisor who is always in your corner and readily available to make sure your vacation is seamless and excellent. BENEFITS: Gives you access to our Virtuoso and Supplier Relationship Benefits. Here are a few examples: Upgraded Rooms when available Early Check-In Late Check-Out Resort/Hotel/Onboard Credits Spa credits Cocktail Receptions Welcome amenities Surprise gifts Special hosted excursions on select cruises
  • Do I really need a Passport when cruising from the U.S.?
It is not required for closed circuit loops that begin and ends in the U.S, only a valid form of picture identification and a certified original birth certificate. However, I HIGHLY recommend that every person that travels on a cruise has a Passport. If a medical emergency or other emergencies arise, it would be very, very difficult and time-consuming to visit the local U.S. authorities. To obtain the necessary documentation to be able to renter the United States, would be laborious. I promise you this is not something you want to have to deal with in an emergency.
  • How do I apply for a passport?
Your best and first resource is to visit: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html. If you have a local post office or passport office, you can also contact them to pre-schedule your appointment for passport application. Pre-scheduling is a fantastic option when available, as it cuts down on the amount of time you may spend waiting in line. If you are not a U.S. Citizen, you will need to check with your country for their passport application process requirements.
  • When is the best time to book a vacation?
The very best time is always as soon as possible. Room availability is much better, and prices are usually lowest further out. If promotions are released later, most of the time we can modify for you. Booking early ensures you have the exact room/location/resort/destination you dreamed at the lowest price without any worries.
  • What is a Tourist VISA and do I need one? If so how to do I get one?
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas.html U.S. citizens don’t need a U.S. visa for travel, but when planning travel abroad may need a visa issued by the embassy of the country they wish to visit. In this situation, when planning travel abroad, learn about visa requirements by country, see country information in the International Travel Section of the above website link.
  • When is the best time to book a cruise?
The best time to book a cruise is always, always as early as possible! The very best time to book is as soon as dates are released. Booking as soon as dates are released ensures you the lowest price as well as the very best pick of stateroom categories and locations. The most coveted staterooms and spots onboard go quickly, especially if you need adjoining rooms!

PLEASE do not book any part of your itinerary without speaking to us first. Speaking to us first is imperative to the development of your vacation itinerary. We work directly with our suppliers to create the most valuable plan based on your wishes. Working outside of our efforts may cause severe complications to your travel plans. If you move forward with booking a segment on your own, we are not held liable. We will not be responsible for anything that might go wrong with that portion of your trip. Also, our travel suppliers & partners will not be held accountable. You will be acting independently and assume travel at your own risk.
  • Can I use travel points or airline miles when booking a vacation with J. Sutton Travel?
If you wish to use travel points and rewards for any part of your itinerary, you will need to make those arrangements on your own. All we ask, PLEASE tell us before you book anything. We will not be able to assist you with any portion of your trip that J. Sutton Travel has not directly reserved with our suppliers.
  • Does J. Sutton Travel offer the cheapest possible rates available?
When designing your itinerary, we will always look for the absolute best value based on your needs, wishes, and desires. The best value does not always mean the cheapest. It does mean that we will provide you the best product & experience that your money can buy. We are about quality and exceptional service here at J. Sutton Travel.
  • Can you break out my vacation quote into a line by line itemized summary?
My goal is to be as transparent as possible with the cost and breakout of your vacation. We work directly with our suppliers to provide you the best value, experience, accommodations, and service! As a result, many of our itineraries are a package. When available, we will be able to separate the line by line cost. However, many times, the package pricing is a result of our leveraging relationships with our suppliers. The suppliers work together with their local providers to provide you the best of everything at the best value; this often leads to non-published pricing. As a result, with some suppliers, the exact non-published pricing isn’t available to us.
